MURAT GASSIEV halted Yunier Dorticos in the 12th round at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Adler, Russia to unify the IBF and WBA cruiserweight titles and book a place in the cruiserweight final of the World Boxing Super Series.
Gassiev will fight Oleksandr Usyk for all four world titles in their division, and the Muhammad Ali trophy in Jeddah on May 11.
To finish the fight, Gassiev slipped a jab and landed an almighty left hook. The Cuban managed to rise. Ruthlessly Gassiev walked Dorticos down, clubbed him with rights and then floored him a second time in the last round, whipping his left hook across. Dorticos rose but was still on shaky footing. Further right hooks hurt him badly and Gassiev hammered him through the ropes to end it before the final bell.
