Rosemount man sinks $100,000 putt at Minnesota Golf Show

“Nice putt.”

Golfers say that to one another all the time, no matter whether it’s a 2-footer for par or a 40-footer to win a $50 side bet.

Paul Shadle took “nice putt” to the extreme Sunday.

Shadle sank a 100-foot putt worth $100,000 at the Venture Bank Minnesota Golf Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center — the first time in the 28-year history of the show that someone had done so.

Shadle, 49, a corporate pilot from Rosemount, won a South Bay pontoon boat valued at $75,000 and $25,000 cash from Nelson Marine. He and others had qualified for the finals by sinking a 100-foot putt earlier in the three-day show. Entrants paid a $5 fee for three tries at making the putt.

A portion of the contest’s proceeds are designated for donation to the First Tee Foundation.
