Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid
After Liverpool beat Roma 5-2 on Tuesday night in the Champions League, Wednesday sees Bayern Munich take on Real Madrid in the second semifinal.
Bayern are on course for another incredible season, having already wrapped up the Bundesiga title.
And who feels comfortable betting against Real Madrid? Los Blancos have won this competition for the past two seasons running, and three times in the last four years.
No Gareth Bale, no David Alaba
On Wednesday morning, several news outlets have tried to predict the likely line-ups for the match at the Allianz Arena.
Starting with the Spaniards, there’s no room for Welsh star Gareth Bale in the starting XI.
Zinedine Zidane is tipped to start with a three pronged attack of Isco, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The rest of the Madrid team seems to pick itself, with Sergio Ramos available again after he was suspended in the last round against Juventus.
As for Bayern Munich, Austrian star David Alaba is predicted to miss out on start.
Alaba, who missed training at the start of the week, is suffering with ongoing sciatic problems.
There’s also no room for Thiago Alcantara in the probable Bayern XI. James Rodriguez and Thomas Muller are set to start in midfield.
Instead, veterans Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben are both expected to be in the Munich team at kick-off.
In goal, Manuel Neuer may have returned to Bayern training in recent weeks, but the German keeper still isn’t fit enough for the Madrid game. Sven Ulreich will start in goal instead.
