Mousa Dembele’s demands causing difficulties over new contract

Tottenham Hotspur and Mousa Dembele are struggling to find an agreement over a new contract with the player demanding a three-year deal, according to the Telegraph.

Meanwhile, the club are set to offer a number of other key players new contracts over the course of the coming months.

Dembele’s deal jeopardised

The Belgian’s new contract has been thrown into doubts with the club unwilling to offer him a three-year deal.

Whilst his wage demands are understood to be around £100k-a-week – something Spurs are willing to pay – the length of the contract is what is causing the issue.

Tottenham aren’t keen on offering a player over the age of 30-years-old a new contract, especially a player who has a poor injury track record and whose form has been somewhat inconsistent this season.

Whilst contract talks between Tottenham and Dembele are expected to resume after the World Cup, the club are set to offer a host of first-team players new contracts also.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino, Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Heung-min Son, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are all expected to sign a=new deals over the coming months.
