SAN JOSE — The Anaheim Ducks certainly hope the national television network their game is being shown on Wednesday night isn’t foreshadowing something in any way.
After all, the Sharks could send the Ducks to the golf course, right after Game 4 of their opening round playoff series is shown on the Golf Channel.
The Sharks lead the best-of-seven series 3-0, and Bay Area viewers will get to watch the potential elimination game on NBC Sports California with play-by-play man Randy Hahn and color analyst Bret Hedican, like they have all season.
Nationally, though, if viewers want to watch the game between the California rivals, they’ll have to tune in to the Golf Channel, which doesn’t exactly have a long history of televising important hockey games.
Oddly enough, other stations that are part of NBC’s vast family of channels are not televising hockey that night. NBCSN is carrying a hockey double-header, with Game 4 of the Pittsburgh-Philadelphia series at 4 p.m. (PT), followed by Game 4 of the Nashville-Colorado series at 7 p.m. (PT).But NBC, CNBC and USA Network — all channels that have shown NHL playoff games so far this month — are televising other programs in primetime Wednesday night, including reruns of such shows as “Family Feud”, “Shark Tank”, “Law & Order” and “Suits.”
Before the Sharks face the Ducks at 7:30 p.m., the Golf Channel is also airing Game 4 of the Tampa Bay-New Jersey series at 4:30 p.m.
The Golf Channel can be seen in the Bay Area on DIRECTV on channel 218,AT&T U-verse on channel 641/1641 HD, AT&T U-verse on channel 641/1641 HD, Comcast XFINITY on channel 82/722 HD and on DISH on channel 401/401 HD.
