ELIZABETHTON, TN – For months big changes were expected at the Elizabethton Golf Course after new management team Hampton Golf took over operations earlier this year.
Managers tell News Channel 11, some of those promised like bringing back food items and starting the sell of beer and wine, are staring to take shape.
On a clear day, you can most likely find Keith Williams at the Elizabethton Golf Course. It is his first time back here since new management company, Hampton Golf took over, and he says things are on the upswing.
“I think it is more modernized compared to other courses, great place to play. I’ve always loved Elizabethton. it looks like it is in good hands,” Keith Williams said.
While some changes have already happened at the Elizabethton Golf Course, plans in the works to sell food and alcohol.
“We did finish our liquor license so you can now have beer, and we are going to serve forms of wine also. we are going to have and are looking into partnerships with local restaurateurs to deliver small bites is what I’ll call them,” Hampton Golf Vice President of Marketing Justin Kuehn said.
Hampton Golf Vice president of marketing Justin Kuehn says those small bites will be enough to get people through the day he says the team is exploring the possibility of adding a restaurant in the future.
He says for the remainder of the year, membership costs will stay the same while they focus on on making changes to satisfy customer needs.
“You are going to see aesthetic improvements, you are going to see golf course improvements,” Kuehn said.
Two long time avid golfers Jim Hardin and Richard Fortney say they haven’t heard much about the changes but are looking forward to them.
“That fine if that is what they want to do, if it will make money, keep this place alive…they need to do something to make a little bit of money.”
Money that the golf course could use since bringing in the management team was the city’s best way to keep ownership, a good decision that players like Keith Williams says is so far, proving beneficial.
“The course looks real good, things are going to be okay,” Keith Williams said.
