Here are some games to keep an eye on this week:
In the Berkshire League, Shepaug Valley baseball is unbeaten and can continue its runaway today against Litchfield at Ted Alex Field at 4:15 p.m. Then, in consecutive games, the Spartans play the three BL teams still in the hunt: at Northwestern on Wednesday, home to Thomaston and on the road to Lewis Mills, both next week, all at 3:45 p.m.
An NVL Iron championship in girls tennis is on the line today as Wolcott plays at Naugatuck in a 3:30 p.m. match. Naugy is 11-0, 4-0 in the division. The Eagles are 9-3, 4-1 in the division. Naugy won the first meeting, 4-3, and can win a title today.
St. Paul hosts Seymour today in tennis at Sage Park at 3:45 P.M., and the Falcons can go unbeaten in the Copper with a win. In the Brass, Sacred Heart plays a tennis twin bill with Wilby today, 3 p.m. at Fulton Park. The Hearts can sweep the Brass matches by winning both.
Another NVL girls tennis showdown is on Thursday at Naugy when the Hearts come in. At the moment the ‘Hounds and Hearts are the league’s only unbeatens.
And BL boys tennis has a home-and-home championship showdown between 11-0 Housatonic and 10-0 Litchfield. The Tuesday match is in Falls Village and on Wednesday they cross rackets in Litchfield. Both matches are at 3:45 p.m.
In golf, one of the best events of the spring is at Farmingbury Hills on Wednesday with the 37th Stigberg Memorial. The Gilbert School will be there to defend its championship.
