Everton dealt blow over transfer move for Barcelona’s Lucas Digne

Blow?

Everton have seemingly been dealt a transfer blow following their move for Barcelona’s Lucas Digne after his agent spoke out over a move.

It was revealed on Thursday night that the French left-back was a target for Marco Silva ahead of the new season.

Several high-profile journalists reported that the club would look to sign him as well as Yerry Mina after his impressive World Cup showing.

That would be a pretty good double deal for Everton and should they pull it off, it would finally get their transfer window off to a good start.

Though, it might not quite be as easy as that.

Agent speaks out

That is because the player’s agent Mikkel Beck has suggested that the player could stay at the club and is not actively looking to leave.

He suggested that the player hasn’t asked to leave the club, but he would like to be in a position to play more.

Even still, it certainly seems he is ready to stay put.

“We have a long contract still with the club,” said Beck, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

The club is very happy about Lucas. It’s not a situation where the club is saying Lucas has to leave or we are saying we have to leave.

“But you know of course you always want to play more. All footballers want to play week in, week out, but we made the choice to go to Barcelona.

“Let’s see what happens, but at the moment we are not really thinking about it. Lucas is at Barcelona, it is the biggest club in the world. You don’t just leave the biggest club in the world.”

Everton reportedly have €30million Doucouré bid rejected

Mina and Digne are not the only players that Everton are interested.

They are yet to sign a player and have several targets and one Watford man could be one of them.
