Match Preview

Liverpool got their ICC account off to a losing start after tasting a 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte last Sunday, conceding a brace to Christian Pulisic after Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring.

Klopp’s side bounced back with a win over Premier League champions Manchester City at the MetLife Stadium a few days after, however, in a game that gave stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane given their first pre-season appearances.

The Egyptian wonder Salah scored within less than a minute of coming onto the pitch as a sub and to level the score at 1-1, while Mane netted from the penalty spot in the closing stages of regular time to give the Reds a 2-1 win .

New Liverpool arrivals Naby Keita and Fabinho have been given their first few outings in the Reds midfield to positive reviews, with the only outstanding players missing from the side being blockbuster signing Alisson, forward Roberto Firmino and defender Dejan Lovren, who are still on their first post-World Cup holiday.

Xherdan Shaqiri is set to make his debut for the Reds in Michigan, after linking up with the squad for the first time in New Jersey.

“You, I think, you have to be fair and now you have to demand and say the team with investments you are making with investments that you start making last season, not just this season, last season.”

Man United have been accused of sluggish displays in their pre-season outings thus far, and the crowd turnout to their matches have been disappointing – with record-low attendances for their games against San Jose Earthquakes and AC Milan.

Mourinho has also been left frustrated with the late arrival of Sanchez due to visa problems and the departure of Martial to England – spurring talks of his exit from the club – as well as the absence of his integral squad players.
