Fan tries to fight Kyle Busch after NASCAR race (video)

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch was involved in an altercation with a fan after a race Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Video obtained by WJHL shows Busch, also known as “Rowdy,” getting off a golf cart to confront a man who appeared to be heckling him. Words are exchanged and chests are bumped before police officers separate the two.

USA Today reports Busch, 33, was riding the golf cart after signing autographs after the NASCAR Monster Energy Series event in Bristol, Tennessee. NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck says the unidentified man appeared to initiate the near-scuffle when he hit Busch on the arm.

No punches were thrown and no further incidents were reported.

According to the Associated Press, Busch’s emotions may have been running high after he started a 15-car wreck on his second lap earlier in the evening and ultimately missed out on an eighth win at Bristol. He later made contact with Martin Truex Jr. to knock his championship rival out of the race, and finished 20th after his damaged Toyota spun to bring out the final caution of the race.

“I didn’t think I was next to him yet, and I clipped him and sent him for a whale of a ride,” Busch told the AP afterwards. “Hopefully, he’s all right and everything is OK there. I hated that I clipped him, I know he could have had a good shot to win the race, too.”

Busch’s older brother, Kurt Busch, won the race Saturday.

Kyle Busch is still the Xfinity Series points leader with two races remaining, making him locked in for the playoffs.
