The Cavaliers appear to be anticipating Rodney Hood’s return.
Cleveland is holding a roster spot open for the 25-year-old restricted free agent, according to a report from The Plain Dealer. Hood is seeking a fair, short-term deal from the Cavaliers, according to an earlier report from Yahoo Sports.
The Cavaliers can match any contract Hood signs with another team. The Kings and Bulls both expressed interest in him last month, according to Yahoo Sports.
Hood began last season with the Jazz, where he averaged 16.8 points in 39 games, before he was traded to the Cavaliers in early February.
Hood tallied 10.8 points per game in 21 regular season appearances with Cleveland. But, he struggled to stay in the Cavaliers rotation in the playoffs. He finished the postseason averaging 5.4 points in 17 games.
Hood has knocked down 36.9 percent of his 3-pointers during his four-year NBA career.
The Cavaliers acquired forward Sam Dekker from the Clippers earlier this month. They also reportedly agreed to a deal with former Bulls guard David Nwaba.
