A privately-owned Lake Victoria Serena Golf course in Kigo was officially added on the list of approved facilities in the country last week.
The 18-hole course will host its maiden major competitive event, the Serena Johnnie Walker Open, from October 3 to 6.
Designed by Golf Plan USA under the guidance of the principal architect, Kevin Ramsey, this distinctive course boasts of sweeping views of Lake Victoria.
It has a unique feature of an 18th hole isolated on a green island and boosts of an Academy, sitting on 780 square metres of putting green, which will act as both a schooling and training facility.
Other amenities on the facility include a fully-fledged pro-shop selling world class golfing merchandise, clubhouse, restaurant, bar and conference room
“This is more than just a golf club; it is a premier golfing complex with improved facilities to encourage both the golfing and social aspect of the club. We hope to fulfil the aspirations of golfers and entice visitors to consider membership to either the golf club or golf academy,” Frankline Nyakundi, the facility manager, stated during a press conference.
