A 33-year-old Fredericksburg man is facing charges after sheriff’s deputies in Loudoun County say he drove onto a Sterling golf course and nearly hit several people before crashing Wednesday.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the 1757 Golf Club in the 45100 block of Waxpool Road at around 8:30 p.m. on September 26 after receiving reports of an intoxicated driver.

Reports say Christopher L. Luedtke had driven onto the golf course and almost struck several people before deputies arrived at the scene.

When deputies did arrive, they say Luedtke was found driving on the western part of the golf course.

Eventually, deputies say Luedtke crashed his vehicle into a wooden bridge.

Luedtke was charged with his second DWI charge in 10 years, as well as possession of marijuana.

He has since been released from jail.
