Wilshere undergoes surgery
Jack Wilshere is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury.
The midfielder picked up a sprained ankle during a training last week preventing him from travelling to Goodison Park on Sunday.
Wilshere underwent the procedure on Monday despite the club originally hoping he would not require surgery.
He is now set to spend around six weeks out injured.
The injury deals manager Manuel Pellegrini another set back after he convinced the club to offer the player a three-year contract.
The East London club were only willing to offer the former Arsenal player a one-year deal due to his poor injury record.
