Similarities between Luis Enrique and Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso claims he sees similarities between Luis Enrique’s management and club boss Maurizio Sarri.

The Spanish defender has enjoyed a fruitful start to the Premier League season with Chelsea.

The left-back has scored one goal and assisted 2, showing off his attacking threat.

While Marcos is enjoying his time with Sarri, it’s time for him to show up on the international stage.

Can Alonso impress with Spain too?

That is because the international break has started and Alonso has joined up with the Spanish national team.

He is set to meet up with new boss Luis Enrique who has joined up after Julen Lopetegui was sacked left for Real Madrid.

Fernando Hierro took charge during the World Cup but could only guide Spain to the last-16.

Now, after enjoying the start of the season with Sarri, Alonso is predicting more joy with Enrique having seen similarities between both managers.

“Things are working well [at Chelsea], I’m very happy,” he explained as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“With Luis Enrique, I see similar things.

“It is modern football that is played lately. Have the ball, control the game, and be well placed when the time comes when the ball is lost.

“Both when you attack and when you defend, you must do everything according to the possession. The placement is fundamental.

“That is why the training sessions are similar to those of Spain: possession, the exit of the ball… These are similar concepts.”
