NBA free agency rumors: Rodney Hood asking Cavaliers for contract worth about $9 million per season | NBA

Rodney Hood is still negotiating with the Cavaliers.

The 25-year-old restricted free agent is seeking a contract from Cleveland that will pay him around $9 million per season, according to a report from Cleveland.com. The Cavaliers have offered Hood a three-year deal, worth about $21 million, the report says.

Hood is also considering signing Cleveland’s $3.4 million qualifying offer, according to the report.

The Cavaliers can match any contract Hood signs with another team. The Kings and Bulls had both expressed interest in him early in free agency, according to Yahoo Sports.

Hood began last season with the Jazz, where he averaged 16.8 points in 39 games, before he was traded to the Cavaliers in early February. He then tallied 10.8 points per game in 21 regular season appearances with Cleveland. But, he struggled to stay in the Cavaliers’ rotation in the playoffs. He finished the postseason averaging 5.4 points in 17 games.

Hood has knocked down 36.9 percent of his 3-pointers during his four-year NBA career.
