NBA news: Kawhi Leonard update provided amid Lakers rumours | Other | Sport

NBA star Leonard has been tipped to leave the Raptors for the Lakers after enjoying another fine season last term.

The 27-year-old is in-demand and reports have claimed the Lakers want him to team up with LeBron James as they aim to bounce back from last season’s difficult campaign.

At present, however, Leonard has maintained a stony silence on rumours linking him with a move away.

It has been 67 days since the American and NBA star last spoke out and, since then, uncertainty as reached fever pitch.

But Chris Walder, who has extensively covered the NBA and writes about the Raptors for Bleacher Report, has claimed there is nothing to report.

And he also urged people to cut Leonard some slack, with the player labelled ‘super reserved.’

“Kawhi Leonard is quiet. News flash,” he tweeted.

“Him not speaking isn’t news. That’s what he does.

“It’s like breathing or eating. The dude is super reserved.

“Let’s not drive him out of Toronto before he even plays a single game.

“Ridiculous takes, I swear.”

Meanwhile, former NBA star Chauncey Billups thinks Leonard may end up staying in Toronto.

“It’s too early to determine [exactly where he’ll end up],” he told Express Sport.

“The popular thing is him leaving, going to the Lakers.

“That’s what people are talking about, but who knows?

“That’s what everybody said last year about Paul George.

“They said he would only play one year with OKC but he ended really liking it and staying – and I can see the same thing happening with Kawhi.”
