NBA news: Steph Curry has the same bizarre workout as Damian Lillard | Other | Sport

The off season usually sees stars posting their workout videos to show fans their dedication to self development as the hype builds toward the start of the new season, but Lillard has been noticeably absent from this.

The 28-year-old has come under criticism from some quarters for not sharing a video of his gruelling conditioning during the summer months, but the guard has now taken to Twitter to dispel his supporters’ fears.

It is clear that Lillard finds the workout video hype rather silly, as his one-minute workout routine shows him completing several dribbling drills while wearing a white “Rip City” T-shirt, combined with a black breathing mask and a blue cape.

Lillard has clearly felt the pressure after Portland team-mates CJ McCollum and Carmelo Anthony went running together, while big men Jusuf Nurkic and Meyers Leonard have shared their individual workouts.

In a witty retort to his critics Lillard said: “When you don’t post your workouts that means they never happened.

“So here’s what y’all love to see.”

Golden State Warrior star Stephen Curry also wanted to get in on the joke as he took to Twitter to claim Lillard’s routine was the same as his own.

“But wait…that’s my whole workout routine for real,” the three-time NBA champion said.

Lillard’s workout sees the guard hitting tennis balls with a racket while dribbling, hoola-hooping and weaving through cones while being shot at by a Nerf gun.

While Lillard is performing these super-human feats the video’s soundtrack is Bill Conti’s ‘Gonna Fly Now’, which is the theme tune to the Rocky films.

There is a real concern around the pressure on NBA players to show that they are working and training outside of the regular season, but Lillard’s approach has also become a hit with fans.

Perhaps following the popularity of Lillard’s routine he will consider sharing more of his work out video before the regular season begins.
