Australia women 104 for 4 (Mooney 29, Dar 1-16) beat Pakistan women 101 all out (Sohail 43, Molineux 3-14) by six wickets
A team effort from Australia’s bowlers ensured they sealed the three-match T20I series at the earliest opportunity against Pakistan, cruising to a six-wicket victory with three overs to spare in Kuala Lumpur. Megan Schutt, Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux were chiefly responsible for ensuring Pakistan only just managed to limp to three figures, with the trio taking eight wickets for 33 runs as Pakistan were bowled out for 101.
Umaima Sohail, who scored 43 off 38, kept Australia at bay for much of the first 15 overs. She made a 40-run partnership with the captain Javeria Khan for the second wicket, which took Pakistan to a somewhat competitive score.
Australia were clinical in the chase and the outcome of the game was never really in doubt. Pakistan kept taking regular wickets with Sana Mir – who recently became the top-ranked ODI bowler – removing Alyssa Healy in the third over. But after Australia found themselves at 62 for four, Ellyse Perry and Elyse Villani put on an unbeaten 40-run stand, seeing Australia through to the finish line with 18 balls still to spare.
The result means Australia have clinched the three-match series. In the first game, they beat Pakistan by 64 runs.
