Eden Hazard acting like Cristiano Ronaldo to get Real Madrid move

Will Hazard join Real Madrid?

Former Manchester United star Wes Brown has likened Eden Hazard’s behaviour to Cristiano Ronaldo’s when he wanted to leave for Real Madrid back in 2009.

The Chelsea star’s contract will expire in the summer of 2020 and a move to Real Madrid has been in the press for several weeks.

He’s also been very open about his contract situation.

He claimed last week that he doesn’t know whether he wants to stay or whether he wants to leave.

“I don’t want to say: ‘Yes, I am signing a new contract,’ and then, in the end, I don’t end up signing,” Hazard explained.

“So I will see. Sometimes in my head, I wake up in the morning and think I want to go. Sometimes I think I want to stay.”

Now, Wes Brown has likened his behaviour as similar to the way Cristiano Ronaldo handled his move to the Bernabeu.

Similar situation to Cristiano

He has claimed that Hazard cannot be blamed for wanting to join the club of his boyhood dreams, just as Cristiano wasn’t.

Brown also claimed that it’s not like the Belgian has lied to the fans or club.

“You know what, it’s the same situation as Cristiano Ronaldo when he was at United,” Brown explained to Express Sport.

“Between the lads in the dressing room, [we’d ask him]: ‘Who’s your favourite club?’ And he’d say: ‘I’ve always wanted to play for Real Madrid.’

“[Hazard has] not lied. It’s not like he’s playing rubbish for your club.

“He’s doing the best that he can and it’s just a boyhood dream he’s always had – it was the same with Ronaldo.

“You ask any United player or fan if he disrespected the club, they’d say: ‘Completely not.’ It’s just one of his dreams.”
