The former England football manager and sports pundit Glen Hoddle is seriously ill in hospital after collapsing at the BT Sport studios.
BT Sport cancelled its live scores show today, which Hoddle was scheduled to appear on.
The broadcaster issued a statement: “Earlier today Glenn Hoddle was taken ill at the BT Sport studio. Glenn received medical attention on site and he was then taken to hospital. All our thoughts are with Glenn and his family.”
The BT Sport broadcaster Jake Humphrey wrote: “Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love & strength,” Humphrey.
Hoddle’s former team-mates published good-will messages. Gary Lineker, a team-mate with England, wrote on Twitter: “Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier.
Micky Hazard, who played alongside Hoddle with Tottenham Hotspur, wrote: “@1MickyHazard OMG just seen the news about my hero, my thoughts and prayers are with you @GlennHoddle. In shock and waiting for more news, come on Ghod get those magic feet moving the football world is with you every step of the way”
Hoddle made his name as a gifted midfielder for Tottenham, representing his boyhood club between 1975 and 1987, before joining Arsene Wenger at Monaco. He played 53 times for England, including at the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.
