Hector Bellerin praises Danny Rose after mental health revelation

Rose is brave

Hector Bellerin and Danny Rose may be rivals on the field, but off the field Rose has Bellerin’s full support.

Rose of course spoke about his mental health issues before the World Cup this summer.

Arsenal.com report Bellerin said: “As footballers we have a massive platform we should be using way more than we actually are.

“It is very easy to just sit at home and stay with your family, kids and friends. But with the platform we have we should be the people that scream about these issues and put them out there so as a society we can move forward.

“Sometimes footballers don’t understand [the power they have]. Sometimes they do understand but they would rather sit at home without pushing these issues.”

Bellerin carried on: “Then a player he looks up to, which Danny Rose could be, raises this issue. That is probably going to give that push that kids needs to get out there and actually talk about it. And then from there being back with the best health he can have.

“There are so many good and positive things that come from raising problems and showing people we are humans, not machines.

“We have lives, families, problems, worries. It is important to speak about them to get people to relate to us as well.”

Bellerin’s future

Bellerin has long been a fan favourite in the Arsenal side.

Despite links with a move several times over the years, including ones to Barcelona, he’s remained at the club.

Now, he’s been hailed as possible captain material by the fans.

It could well be the case that Bellerin does end up Arsenal skipper.

The Gunners are worried about losing Danny Rose and also Aaron Ramsey, who are both out of contract come the summer and are yet to agree a new deal.
