On Thursday, NBA 2K announced the details for their MyTEAM Unlimited $250,000 Tournament.
When Does It Start?
The competition begins on October 13, 2018. The tournament will be played using the new MyTEAM Unlimited Mode, which features 5-on-5 NBA-style gameplay.
How Does MyTEAM Unlimited Work?
Gamers can use any 13 cards from their collection of cards in the mode.
Unlike the NBA 2K League, the MyTEAM Unlimited Tournament is a head-to-head competition rather than five humans against another team of five human players. This is the more traditional play where one player controls an entire team while his opponent has the same level of control.
Is There a Qualification Process?
Initially, there is a qualification process. A total of 32 contestants (16 each on Xbox One and PS4) will qualify during weekly events. Those contestants will advance to a single-elimination tournament on February 2, 2019. The winner of the Xbox One and PS4 tournaments will be the champions of their consoles, and they will advance to the Championship Finals. There they will play each other on the Xbox One in a best-of-3 series.
Will the Series Be Televised?
Yes, it will be live streamed on 2K channels and the winner will earn the $250,000 cash prize. Both finalists will win a trip to the NBA All-Star Weekend and all of its events in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Who is Allowed to Enter the Tournament?
The contest is open to NBA 2K19 players age 18 and over and the age of majority in their state, country or province of residence. You can see the full rules of the tournament here.
Stay tuned for news and updates as we move closer to the end of the qualification process.
