NFL players buzzing after Saquon Barkley’s Week 6 performance

Saquon Barkley was absolutely dominant for the New York Giants during the team’s 34-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6.

In spite of the rookie running back’s dominant performance, he finished with just 13 carries. On just 13 designed run plays, Barkley racked up 133 rushing yards. Barkley was also electric in the passing game and finished with 99 yards receiving on nine receptions.

The Giants need to commit to Barkley early and often throughout the game. His stat line should read closer to 20-25 carries and I understand that goes against all of NFL metrics and analytics telling you to pass. However, the Giants pass blocking is ranked No. 31 in pass block win rate. The Giants can take pressure off their pass protection by running the offense through Barkley, stopping defensive lines from teeing off on the quarterback, and then taking shots in the passing game.

Regardless of what the Giants need to do, NFL players and analysts around the league took notice of what Barkley did on Thursday Night Football. Barkley’s performance had players and analysts buzzing and we’ve got some of the best highlights from Barkley’s big night, reaction from players like Dez Bryant, stats you may not have known, and other banter about Barkley.

Let’s jump right in.
