The Game

The Minnesota Wild can extend their winning streak to six games when they begin a seven-game road trip against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Monday.

The Wild have outscored opponents 17-9 while winning five in a row since a 1-2-2 start. They haven’t won six straight since a 12-game run from Dec. 4-29, 2016.

Goaltender Devan Dubnyk makes his third consecutive start for Minnesota. He is 4-0-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average and .959 save percentage during the winning streak.

The Canucks have lost two straight games for the first time this season after top-pair defensemen Alexander Edler (knee) and Christopher Tanev (hip) were injured.

Players to watch

Wild forward Mikael Granlund has nine points (five goals, four assists) in a seven-game point streak.

Canucks center Elias Pettersson did not have a point his first game back from injury Saturday but leads NHL rookies with eight points (five goals, three assists) in six games.

They said it

“It’s not a good formula to keep a win streak going, that’s for sure. We’re playing with fire.” — Wild coach Bruce Boudreau on giving up the first goal in seven of eight games. Minnesota is an NHL-best 5-1-1 when the opponent scores first.

“We’re replacing 25 minutes out of two guys and you are asking someone else not only to play those minutes but to play against the best players in the world.” –– Canucks coach Travis Green on playing without Edler and Tanev
