LeBron James claim made by NBA pundit – ‘We will never see this again’ | Other | Sport

James joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to four straight NBA Finals.

The small forward only managed to lead his limping side towards one championship in his return to the franchise that drafted him in 2003, but that was no mean feat against the Golden State Warriors dynasty.

Prior to his return to Cleveland, James bagged two rings alongside Dwayne Wade and Ray Allen at Miami Heat.

It has now been eight straight finals in which James has competed, and although making that nine is highly unlikely with the Lakers, the 33-year-old is still proving he is the best player of all time.

In fact, FOX Sports’ Sharpe believes James reminded everyone why he is the greatest player of all time against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night.

James dropped 44 points, alongside 10 rebounds and nine assists for Luke Walton’s side as they overcame the Trail Blazers 126-117.

His mega points haul in that game made James the fifth-highest point-scorer in the history of the NBA, eclipsing Wilt Chamberlain.

Reaffirming his position in the upper echelons of the sport, Sharpe explained on Undisputed: “LeBron just reminded everyone – ‘I’m still the GOAT. Y’all must have forgot… Did I retire?

“’Y’all thought just because I relocated to LA, I’m not the same guy.

“‘I’m still the baddest man that can dribble a basketball and breathe oxygen at the same time.’

“Forty four (points), 10 (rebounds) and nine (assists) – this is what LeBron James is in a nutshell.

“We got a guy that can score like Kobe [Bryant] and Mike [Jordan], a guy that can make plays like Magic [Johnson], and a guy that has the efficiency of Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] and Wilt [Chamberlain].

“I don’t think we’ll ever see this again. This is very impressive because I can assure you, no matter how great we thought he was going to be, nobody thought he would do this.

“Nobody saw all-time leading scorer, nobody saw this kind of greatness.

“We thought he could be good, we thought he could be great. But not pantheon, not transcendent, not Mount Rushmore.”
