NBA news: LeBron James makes admission over how long the Lakers will need to come good | Other | Sport

The Lakers have improved since making a disastrous start to the NBA season.

Head coach Luke Walton was reportedly on the verge of losing his job, before the Lakers began to turn their fortunes around.

After losing their first three games of the season, the Lakers snapped their losing streak with a 131-113 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

However, the Lakers then slipped to 2-5, and then 3-6, with many fans calling for Walton to be replaced.

James himself admitted he came close to ‘snapping’, when the Lakers were losing game after game.

But he was forced to remind himself that he knew what he was getting himself in for when he joined the franchise.

Now, James has revealed how long he believes it will be until the Lakers are at their best.

“I’m not one to put a cap on how many games we need to see where we are,” he said.

“We want to try and get better each and every month.

“I believe we’re better here in November than we were in October.

“If we continue on this trend we will be where we want to be after the new year.”

James’ comments came as he and his team-mates prepared to face the Portland Trail Blazers.

Having already lost to the Trail Blazers on the opening night of the season, the Lakers are looking to make a statement about how far they’ve come as we approach the end of the first month of the season.

The Lakers did end up getting revenge on the Trail Blazers on November 4, but the result almost went the other way as the Lakers suffered a near-collapse in the fourth quarter.

Having led going into the final quarter of the game, the Lakers gave up 37 points and scored just 26, winning the game by four points.
