Fight card – The rundown
Oleksandr Usyk vs Tony Bellew – IBF, WBO and WBA ‘super’ and WBC world cruiserweight titles
Usyk (15-0) and Bellew (30-2-1) compete in the first ever unified world title showdown on British soil. Usyk clinched the world honours after defeating Murat Gassiev in the final of the World Boxing Super Series. Bellew returns to cruiserweight for the first time since he beat BJ Flores in 2016, after ‘Bomber’ moved up to heavyweight where he defeated David Haye twice.
Anthony Crolla vs Daud Yordan – Lightweight
Crolla (33-6-3) fights for the second time this year having beaten Edson Ramirez in March. The 31-year-old beat Scotsman Ricky Burns before that, but lost to Jorge Linares twice in 2017. Yordan (38-3) competes for the first time in Britain, with the Indonesian on an eight fight win streak last losing to Simpiwe Vetyeka in 2013 for the IBO featherweight title.
Ricky Burns vs Scott Cardle- Lightweight
Ricky Burns is a former world champion but if he is to return to the top level he can’t afford to lose to Scott Cardle. Cardle (23-2-1) was defeated by Lewis Ritson in March while challenging for the British title. Cardle since beat Michael Mooney.
