Jurgen Klopp gives update on Liverpool’s January transfer plans

Liverpool splash the cash in the summer

Liverpool would make a huge splash in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The Reds would sign Alisson from Roma for, at the time, a world record fee for a goalkeeper.

Alisson has since proved himself to be worth the high price tag.

In 18 Premier League games this season Alisson has let in just seven goals, the best defensive record in the league.

Liverpool would also sign Naby Keita and Fabinho. While both midfielders took some time to find their feet, they are both becoming key members of Liverpool’s midfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s finally summer signing would be Xherdan Shaqiri.

While Shaqiri does not start many games for Liverpool, he is a superb super sub and certainly worth his low transfer fee.

Liverpool’s January transfer plans

After a successful summer of recruitment, Liverpool head into Christmas top of the Premier League.

They are also the only side to remain unbeaten after 18 league games.

However, while Liverpool are flying high in the league, they have had to deal with a fair few injuries.

For example, Liverpool will be without both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip for some time due to injury.

This may have led some Liverpool fans to think their side may sign a defender or two in the winter window.

Unfortunately, when Jurgen Klopp was asked about his January plans, he did not give much hope of Liverpool signing anyone:

“I keep the door open because if something happens we need to have a look.

“I’m very happy with what I’ve got, but you don’t know.

“That’s why I always keep the door open, in case something happens. We have a lot of games coming up and as long as we can react, it’s all good. If something dramatically changes, we’ll look.
