Nawaz Sharif sentenced to 7 years in jail for corruption
An anti-corruption court in Pakistan on Monday sentenced ousted premier Nawaz Sharif to seven years in jail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption case. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was, however, acquitted him in the Flagship Investments corruption case in Panama Papers scandal. The court has also reportedly imposed a USD 2.5 million fine on him. The former PM, who was present in the court, was immediately taken into custody. Read Here

Sensex extends losses amid weak global cues, closes at 35,470.15; Nifty ends at 10,663.50
BSE benchmark Sensex extended its losses for the second session on Monday in the holiday-shortened week by declining 272 points on heavy selling in realty, consumer durables, metal and auto counters amid weak global cues as political uncertainties in the US dampened sentiment.
After rising briefly to 35,910.67 at the outset, the 30-share quickly slipped into the negative terrain in line with a weak trend at other Asian markets and touched a low of 35,423.24 before ending at 35,470.15, down by 271.92 points. Read Here
