St. John’s native Clark Bishop back up with NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes | Hockey | Sports

Clark Bishop’s latest stay in the American Hockey League didn’t last long.

For the third time in less than two months, the 22-year-old centre from St. John’s has been recalled by the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes from their AHL farm team, the Charlotte Checkers.

Bishop had only been sent down to the Checkers on Monday and appeared in a single game Tuesday night for Charlotte before the latest promotion

The Hurricanes play the Detroit Red Wings tonight and the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday.

Bishop has a goal and an assist in 15 total games with the Hurricanes in his first NHL career action this season, and has registered three goals and two assists with the Checkers.

His ability to crack the big-league roster is extra important as it comes in the final year of Bishop’s entry-level contract with Carolina. He is set become a free-agent, albeit a restricted one, this summer.
