WBO super-welterweight champion Jaime Munguia defended his world title from Takeshi Inoue at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Munguia won a unanimous decision 119-109 for Levi Martinez and 120-108 for Javier Martinez and Cesar Ramos.
“I think it was a great fight, he was a great warrior,” Munguia said. “I was surprised by him, he did great. I also received a lot of punches on the back of my head. But I’ll take the title. I got the win and that’s what matters.”
Munguia is a big man for 154lbs and is considering a move up to middleweight eventually. Even WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade has voiced some interest in facing Munguia. “Of course,” the Mexican responded, “I will accept the challenge.”
