Danica Patrick, like so many others, gathered the highlights from the past year and shared them on Instagram to celebrate the end of 2018. And she had so many memorable moments — between her professional life transitioning out of the race car to traveling the world with boyfriend Aaron Rodgers — that she needed two posts to sum it all up.
But with so many photos posted, we couldn’t let one of the best get lost, and because they’re in chronological order, one of her best photos is last. As she mentions in the caption, she was so happy about “that time I got Aaron decorate stockings for eachother ❤️.”
Early in 2018, Patrick competed in her final NASCAR race, the Daytona 500, after five full-time seasons at the top in the Cup Series and eight years overall. In what became known as the “Danica Double” for her farewell tour, she also raced in IndyCar’s Indianapolis 500, returning to her racing roots in an open-wheeled car one more time.
Now that she’s done behind the wheel, Patrick is transforming her once-side businesses — her clothing line, her wine company and her health and fitness book — into her main focus. She also became the first female host of the ESPYS, and she and Rodgers even did a parody skit of I, Tonya.
First half of 2018 was epic! …..surprise trip to Hawaii, last Nascar race at Daytona, meeting the Dalai Lama, last race of my career – Indy 500, immediately after was auction napa valley where I finally got to drink at work😆, and an amazing quick pit stop at Stonehenge.
Outside of her career paths, Patrick and Rodgers had an eventful year together. Last January, she confirmed her relationship with the Green Bay Packers quarterback and told For The Win the story of how they got together. Rodgers was at both the Daytona 500 and Indy 500 with her family to support her as she retired from racing.
But the couple also traveled around the country and world. They visited the Dalai Lama and Stonehenge. Patrick cheered Rodgers on at a celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe this summer and spent some of her time in Green Bay this season.

The last half of the year was just as epic….. Tahoe golf tournament, hosting the espys, lifetime achievement at the kids choice awards, getting our L1 Crossfit certification, beautiful Wyoming, the day my foot finally touched my head, healing old wounds by learning to love England and Europe again, and that time I got Aaron decorate stockings for eachother❤️. .
I can’t believe how amazing this year was. So much love, adventure, joy, growth, and bravery in 2018! Who knows what 2019 will bring…. but I’m ready!
