Lindstedt/Raonic Upset Reunited Bryans In Brisbane | ATP Tour

Competing for the first time together since the Mutua Madrid Open final in May 2018, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan‘s return to action at the Brisbane International ended in defeat on Tuesday.

Robert Lindstedt and Milos Raonic recovered from a set down to overcome the top seeds, who were making their debut in Brisbane, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 after 65 minutes. In a tight first-round encounter featuring just three break points, it was fitting that the Match Tie-break was decided by one mini-break. At 1/0, Lindstedt executed a deft topspin lob winner to gain an early advantage before the Swedish-Canadian team converted their first match point to set a quarter-final encounter against James Duckworth and Jordan Thompson.

Kyle Edmund and Neal Skupski spoiled John Peers’ hometown party, defeating the Australian and his partner, Henri Kontinen, 7-6(4), 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals. The British duo will meet Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof for a place in the last four.

Aussies John Millman and John-Patrick Smith also advanced to the quarter-finals, beating Marcelo Demoliner and Daniil Medvedev 6-7(3), 6-4, 10-4. Millman and Smith will next face second seeds Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff.
