Mesuz Ozil’s agent shoots down exit rumours: ‘He is 100% committed’

The agent of Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has this evening spoken out over the rumours surrounding his client’s future.

Ozil the enigma

Ozil, who splits opinion among both fans and pundits alike due to his languid style on the pitch, has been plying his trade at the Emirates stadium since 2013, when he made the move from Real Madrid for 50 million Euro.

Despite registering impressive assist numbers for the club over the last 5 seasons, though, the German has found it difficult to rediscover the consistent brilliance that saw him widely-regarded as one of the world’s finest attacking midfielders whilst in the Spanish capital, with wonderful showings all too often followed by anonymous outings from the Schalke youth product in North London.

The Emery effect

As such, Ozil has been persistently-linked with a potential Arsenal departure over recent seasons.

And the arrival of Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger’s replacement at the helm in North London this summer has since only resulted in speculation surrounding the German’s future moving up a notch.

To this point in the campaign, Ozil has started just 12 of the Gunners’ 21 Premier League outings.

In addition, the former Werder Bremen man was omitted from Arsenal’s squad for their crunch Carabao Cup clash with capital rivals Tottenham two weeks ago, with Unai Emery having confirmed in a post-match press conference that Ozil was in fact fit to feature, but had simply not been called up:

‘It’s a tactical decision. I thought that the players that were with us today were the best choices for this match.’

‘100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club’

However, despite his difficulties this season and the rampant rumours surrounding his future, Ozil will not be departing Arsenal for the foreseeable future, according to the player’s agent.

Speaking in an interview with Goal this evening, Dr. Erkut Sogut explained:

‘I would prefer not to speak publicly about Mesut’s situation. But given the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Arsenal, I do feel it is important to provide some clarity so we can end this and focus on football.’

‘Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal. And nothing has changed in his mind. He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.’

‘Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.’

‘He is proud to wear the shirt and honoured to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch. He takes his responsibilities – including being selected as one of the captains this season – very seriously and has a great relationship with his team-mates, the staff and fans.’
