Tottenham make £35.8m bid for Joachim Andersen- calciomercato

Tottenham bid for Andersen

Italian outlet Calciomercato is reporting that Tottenham have made a bid in the region of £38.5m for Sampdoria defender, Joachim Andersen.

Andersen joined Sampdoria in August of 2017 from Dutch outfit FC Twente for a fee of around £1.2m.

The 22-year-old did not have the most impressive debut season in the Serie A, making just seven league appearances in the 2017/18 season.

This campaign, however, has seen Anderson become an integral member of the Sampdoria backline.

Anderson has started 18 of Sampdoria’s 19 league games this season, only missing their latest match due to suspension. Sampdoria are also 7th in the Serie A.

While Spurs do seem keen on Andersen, it is being reported that Tottenham will wait till the summer to sign the centre-back.

According to Ciro Venerato, via the Mirror, Tottenham are one of several teams tracking Andersen:

“Yes there are some teams who have expressed interest in him as he has been doing well in the Serie A.

“Tottenham are one of these teams as they have a 40 million euros offer ready for him. I think Spurs would like to get him during the summer transfer window.”

Toby Alderweireld replacement?

If the reports that Spurs want to sign Anderson this summer rather than in January are true, he may well be a replacement for Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer.

The Belgian has also recently signed a new contract extension with Tottenham that includes a relatively low £25m release clause.

As a result, it is likely he will leave Tottenham in the summer with the young Anderson a perfect replacement.
