Action packed weekend for West Cumbria Youth Football League

Whitehaven AFC Blues are flying high after scoring eight goals in their Under-13 West Cumbria Youth League clash with St Bees at the weekend.

St Bees battled hard throughout but could not find a way through the solid Whitehaven defence.

At this level Workington Wolves beat Bransty Rangers 3-0, Windscale edged out Cleator Moor Celtic 2-1, Whitehaven Yellows won 7-3 at Maryport Amateurs, Seaton Athletic bagged a 3-2 win over Whitehaven Miners Social and Senhouse Juniors and Cockermouth United drew 2-2.

In the Under-14 league Workington Rangers continue to thrive with an 8-0 victory over Cleator Moor Celtic while Cockermouth Cougars beat Windscale 3-0.

St Bees were 3-1 victors at the home of Workington Reds’ Blacks and one goal separated Dearham Rangers and Workington Reds Whites, the latter winning 3-2.

In the Under-16 league Bransty Rangers got the better of Workington Wanderers Whites under-15s 3-2, Cleator Moor Celtic under-15s were clear cut 9-0 victors over Cockermouth Panthers under-15s while Windscale under-15s claimed a 5-0 away win at Workington Reds under-15s. The previous day Cockermouth Lightning won 4-2 at Whitehaven AFC.

And in the Under-16 League Cup, Maryport Amateurs under-15s won 5-3 against Seaton Juniors under-15s.

In the Under-12 Cup Green, Whitehaven Miners Social went under 3-2 at the hands of Seaton Athletic while Maryport Amateurs won 3-1 at home over Workington Reds’ Reds.

In the Orange Cup. Silloth Mini Gulls won a 12-goal thriller, 7-5 over St Bees and Dearham Rangers won 5-1 against Grassroad Sharks. The Yellow Cup saw wins for Moor Row Reds, 9-2 at Cleator Moor Celtic Greens, and Whitehaven Yellows drew 1-1 with Workington Reds Blacks.

There was one game in the Under-18 league as Workington Reds Blacks won 4-1 at Whitehaven.

Whitehaven AFC Whites won 5-0 in the Under-12 Girls League over Maryport Amateurs.
