High School Golf: Providence’s Ponder leads tournament | High School Sports

Providence Christian’s Thomas Ponder fired a 69 to take the opening day lead at the David Miller Memorial Tournament at the Steelwood Course in Mobile.

Ponder had a one-stroke lead heading into today’s second and final round.

As a team, Houston Academy was fifth among the 16 teams with a 321. Mountain Brook led with a 296 with McGill-Toolen with a 312, Fairhope a 317 and UMS-Wright a 319.

HA was led by Jake McDonald with a 77.

Providence finished the opening day in 11th place with a 342 score.
