SAN ANTONIO – Winners of four consecutive and six of seven matches to open the 2019 season, UTSA men’s tennis will travel to Corpus Christi to compete in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, slated for Friday-Saturday.
UTSA (6-1) has won four consecutive matches, all on the road, to open the year at a sterling clip. The Roadrunners own a 27-11 record in singles play and a 13-4 mark in doubles through the first seven matches.
The Roadrunners have been paced by a 6-1 singles mark from sophomore Purdue transfer Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru), who has teamed with two different Runners to earn a 5-1 mark in doubles.
Junior Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) has posted a 4-0 record in singles, with Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) sporting a 5-2 record in singles and while teaming with Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil), is 5-1 in doubles. Ceolin is 4-2 in singles in 2019 and owns a 17-9 career mark and a 12-12 mark in doubles. Poestinger is 14-17 in singles and 8-9 in doubles in his career. Reckow boasts a 23-21 record in singles and a 16-20 mark in doubles in his career.
Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) is 3-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles. Freshman Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) is 3-1 in singles and 3-2 in doubles.
Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) is 2-4 in singles and has combined with Sanson with a 3-2 doubles pair. In his career, Brietbach is 19-29 in singles and 11-23 in doubles.
Leon Hein (Hamburg, Germany) is 2-0 in doubles in 2019 and 5-4 in his career.
