Why Mohammed Bin Salman isn’t buying Manchester United

Why Salman will not be buying Man United

Reports have recently emerged that Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman was targeting a takeover of Manchester United.

The Takeover was said to cost somewhere in the region of £3.8b.

However, Turki al-Shabanah, the Saudi Minister of media, has recently responded to the claims, denying Salman’s intentions to take over United.

“Reports claiming that HRH the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman intends on buying Manchester United are completely false.

“Manchester United held a meeting with PIF [ Public Investment Fund] Saudi to discuss a sponsorship opportunity. No deal has materialised.” As quoted by the BBC.

As mentioned above by al-Shabanah, United and Saudi’s PIF were in talks over a potential sponsorship deal.

However, the BBC are reporting that United pulled out of a Saudi Arabian investment forum amid the fallout of the death of journalist, Jamal Khashoggi.

This would make any potential deal between Salman and United quite difficult given United have already pulled out of one deal in the past.

Chelsea vs Man United

While a lot of focus is being put on the rumoured takeover, Man United will now be concentrating on their FA Cup 5thr round tie with Chelsea.

The Reds will travel to Stamford Bridge on Monday evening as Solskjaer looks to move a step closer to landing some silverware as United boss.

United are already out of the League Cup and look very unlikely to get past PSG in the UCL.

So, the FA Cup is now their best chance of a trophy this year.

Man United have lost just once under Solskjaer, while Chelsea have lost three of their last five league games.
