Augusta Health’s head tennis pro Chad Reed was recently named the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) member of the year for the state of Virginia.
Reed, who is also the head girls tennis coach at Wilson Memorial High School, has played the sport since 1983, and has been a PTR member since 1995.
“Tennis is at its best when it is about relationships,” Reed said in a press release. “I have developed many great relationships throughout my career and my relationship with the PTR is definitely one of those.”
Reed is a Certified Professional in three PTR education pathways: 10 & Under, 11 to 17, and Adult Development. He has been the tennis coordinator and head pro at Augusta Health Fitness in Fishersville since 2001.
At Wilson, Reed has a 121-15 record since taking over the program in 2012.
“My time at WMHS has been some of the most rewarding in my career,” Reed said. “The ability to use my knowledge of tennis as a platform to help young people learn to be their best on and off the court is an even better reward than [the] win/loss record.”
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,500 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
