WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Josh Reddick exited the Astros’ Grapefruit League game against the Mets after he was struck in the right hand by a pitch in the second inning.

An Astros spokesman said X-rays were negative and labeled Reddick’s injury as a hand contusion. The right fielder is considered day to day.

After absorbing the fastball from Mets starter Corey Oswalt in his only plate appearance, Reddick was checked out by head trainer Jeremiah Randall but remained in the game to run the bases.

Reddick dove back into first base on numerous pickoff throws with no discernible distress.

The outfielder and bench coach Joe Espada — managing the team while A.J. Hinch traveled with the squad sent on the road to play the Braves — conferred between innings and Reddick headed to the clubhouse.
