Bad for Liverpool’s Henderson, good for Southampton’s Ward Prowse

Bad news for Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson

The Sun are reporting on Monday morning that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has pulled out of the England squad.

Henderson picked up an injury in the opening stages of the Champions League match at Bayern Munich.

As a result, Henderson played no part in the 2-1 win at Fulham on Sunday.

Henderson’s injury has forced the midfielder to sit out the international break.

That’s positive for Liverpool as Henderson should now have time to recover from his injury problems.

It’s also worth noting that a couple of other Liverpool stars will get a mini break in the next few weeks.

Mo Salah isn’t joining up with the Egypt squad, while the injured Naby Keita won’t join up with Guinea.

Good news for Southampton’s James Ward Prowse

Gareth Southgate is set to hand Henderson’s spot in the squad to Southampton’s James Ward Prowse.

Ward Prowse has been in the headlines in recent weeks for his David Beckham-esque free-kicks.

The Southampton midfielder scored in successive Premier League matches against Man United and Tottenham.

Ward Prowse has scored six goals in his last nine matches for Southampton.
