Will Chelsea be allowed to sign any players this summer?

Chelsea have been hit with a FIFA transfer ban which is supposed to be in play for the next two windows.

On the face of it, Chelsea cannot add any new recruits until the summer of 2020.

The transfer ban was impose on Chelsea in respects of breaches in signing up minors.

Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all be hit with similar bans in the past.

For the record, Chelsea are appealing the decision.

Man City’s FIFA transfer ban threat

Over the weekend, the Times have reported that Man City could also be hit with a similar transfer ban.

Like Chelsea, Man City stand accused of breaking FIFA’s rules with regard to recruiting minors. The Times report:

A source with knowledge of the investigation told The Times that the breaches alleged to have been committed by City were similar to those that saw Chelsea sanctioned, and that it looks certain that the same two- window transfer ban is imposed.

Fifa’s action is unlikely to be announced before next month as the final parts of the case have still to be completed.

Pep Guardiola on the possible FIFA ban

Prior to the match against Swansea in the FA Cup, the issue of the possible FIFA ban was posed to Pep Guardiola.

The Spanish boss has tried to allay fears, telling supporters:

Of course I’d be okay. 

I answered five, six or seven questions last week. I cannot be the right guy to talk about it.

The club have the processes. They don’t call and explain what they are doing.
