Tharanga’s sack was on the cards wasn’t it. His last century was in October 2017.
2nd ODI – Preamble
Sri Lanka were brought crashing back to earth at Wanderers after their glorious highs of the Test series win. There’ll be time for reflection, but it’s now. If that win was an improbable proposition before the tour, their mission World Cup 2019 would lie in the same ballpark.
Lasith Malinga has a quite a task on his hands to galavanise this side, bereft of several key players. Now he has to get them geed up to avoid going down two-nil down. Although series results are secondary at this point. It’s about identifying the personnel and the style of play, although it might be a little too late for the latter.
What about South Africa then? They’re significantly better-placed than their visitors but have a few questions to answer themselves.
We’ve got those covered in the Preview. Why don’t you gorge on it while we wait for the toss?
