Giroud on the move this summer?
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been speaking about his future on Wednesday and hinted at where he could potentially end up.
Giroud has been pretty unfortunate during his time at Chelsea.
Despite being brought in as a back-up option, Giroud has often outperformed Chelsea’s first choice options.
That’s predominantly been the case again this campaign when played in the Europa League.
Giroud is currently the top goalscorer in that competition after scoring a perfect hat-trick against Dynamo Kyiv.
Now, with first-team chances in other competitions hard to come by, Giroud seems certain to leave after his latest comments.
“I want to become important again, with the confidence of a coach”
Speaking to a number of outlets on Wednesday, Giroud has suggested he wants out of Chelsea.
First up, speaking to RTL and cited by GFFN, Giroud explains that he knows he will only play in the Europa League and even suggested he could finish his career in France.
“Today, I feel like there is no competition since January,” he explained.
It is like that, I know that I will only play in the Europa League.
“The future could be lively this summer. I am not scared of going down a level to have more playing time. It could be that I end my career in France.”

Is Lyon an option for Giroud?
In a separate interview with FootMercato, Giroud spoke specifically about a potential move to Lyon.
The Frenchman revealed he is ‘very happy’ about the interest from Lyon and other clubs in Ligue 1.
“We can imagine a return to France, we do not know what the future will hold for us,” he explained.
“Lyon was mentioned because the president talked about it. I know what he is saying and I am very happy with the interest of some French clubs in my regard.
“It’s a club with very good young people, very good players, a very good staff.
“I also know that, in Lyon, they talk about certain departures.
“Of course. I want to become important again, with the confidence of a coach.”
