Tigers get back on the tennis court

The Sealy Tiger tennis team competed in the Magnolia West Tournament last Friday after weeks of bad weather and rainouts.

Although the courts retained some moisture, they were good enough to play on and so the show went on albeit a little delayed.

The girls’ doubles pairing of Kylie Patrick and Macey Feland made it the farthest out of all the Sealy tennis players, coming up just short in the consolation finals.

The duo opened with a win over Willis, 8-0, before falling to a pair from Bellville, 6-4, 6-1. In the first round in the consolation bracket, Patrick and Feland defeated a pair from Tomball Memorial, 8-2, before taking a 9-8 (7-2) decision from a Conroe pairing, sending them to the finals.

However, a couple from the hosting Magnolia West Mustangs took that match, 8-4, ending their day.

The other girls’ doubles pairing of Rachel Faldyn and Tina Pham won their first match over a Willis duo as well, 8-3. But another pair from Bellville ended their road, with the Brahmanettes winning 7-5, 6-2.

In boys’ doubles action, Jonah DeLozier and J.T. Rassette lost their first two in a row, first to Tomball Memorial, 8-6, then College Park, 8-4.

Brendon Beckendorff and Austin Keeton had a similar path, falling to pairings from the same teams, Tomball Memorial (8-2) and College Park (9-7).

Those Tigers got right back on the horse and headed to Wharton for another tournament Wednesday afternoon, looking to send more tennis players in black and gold deeper into the brackets.
