IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) — Hawkeyes are mourning the loss of a former running back, Damon Bullock, who has died.
The 25-year-old died unexpectedly over the weekend. Bullock’s mother, Kimberly Handy, wrote in a Facebook post that her son died in a “terrible accident” Sunday morning, though exact details surrounding Bullock’s death weren’t immediately clear.
“I will never be the same,” Handy said in the post. “I don’t know how or what to do. … I am heartbroken.”
Former teammates passed along condolences on social media, Sunday.
“Rest Easy D Bull!” wrote Miles Taylor, a former Hawkeye safety. “I Love you man! Know you in Heaven smiling down! Can’t imagine my time at Iowa without you bro.. Your soul and good spirit will always live forever! ❤️�� #RIP #5”

Christian Kirksey, a former Hawkeye linebacker currently playing for the Cleveland Browns, wrote on Twitter that his heart was heavy following Bullock’s death.
“My heart is extremely heavy right now!” Kirksey said. “I love you Damon Bullock! Rest in peace bro!”

Bullock played with the Hawks from 2011-14, He finished with 1,074 rushing yards and four touchdowns in 35 games.
