Olivier Giroud – Top Europa League goalscorer
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is getting all the plaudits on Thursday evening after scoring a perfect hat-trick against Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League.
Despite criticism of Maurizio Sarri over the past few months, Chelsea have really gone through the gears in the Europa League.
The Blues have only conceded four goals during the entire tournament and have confidently seen off any team that stood in their way.
Their latest impressive performance came against Dynamo Kyiv on Thursday when they secured their place in the quarter-finals.
Chelsea hit Kyiv for five
Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea travelled to Ukraine just needing to stay solid and not concede too many goals.
With a 3-0 aggregate lead, Kyiv needed a miracle but their hopes were dashed by Olivier Giroud in the 5th minute.
The Frenchman scored his first goal of the night, scoring with his left foot after flick on by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
It took just under 20 minutes more until Giroud had put Chelsea 2-0 up on the night.
This time he scored with his right foot after a cross from Marcos Alonso.
Alonso then got himself on the scoresheet just before half-time and Giroud was just as influential in that goal.
Giroud played a brilliant ball through to Callum Hudson-Odoi with the Englishman playing the ball across to Alonso for a tap-in.
After the half-time break, Giroud completed a perfect hat-trick by scoring a header in the 59th minute.
That goal even took him to top of the Europa League goalscoring charts with nine goals, one more than Salzburg’s Moanes Dabour and two more than Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder.
That is a quality Chelsea goal!

Social media praises Giroud’s brilliant performance
Safe to say, a perfect hat-trick is no easy feat.
Despite the opposition, Olivier Giroud’s performance against Kyiv was simply brilliant.
That was an opinion shared by many on social media on Thursday evening.
Just a little present for Arsenal fans that spent all day complaining about Giroud’s inclusion in the France squad ahead of Lacazette
