Golf tip of the week: Don’t compare the golf swing to a hockey slap-shot | News, Sports, Jobs

A golf club should orbit the body in a smooth accelerated motion.

A high percentage of golfers try to slap at the ball holding the club face on the target line too long, much like a hockey player firing a puck toward the net.

A hockey slapshot has little comparison to striking a golf ball with a golf club. A hockey stick is utilized to thrust a puck downline toward the target.

A golf club orbits the body similar to a moon orbiting a planet and does not go straight downline toward the target as long as a hockey slapshot.

The other difference is a golf club remains in front of a golfer’s body and builds up speed gradually like a roller coaster picking up speed, whereas a hockey stick picks up its maximum speed in a few feet.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
